Handmade etched copper rainforest jasper beaded pendant. The cab was made in my home studio from a larger slab of rainforest jasper. The slab was cut with a tile saw in the approximate shape and size that I wanted the finished stone to be. I then ground the cab down through many grits of sand paper and polished it to a warm shine.
I then cut and etched the copper back plate, oxidizing the copper to bring out the etched design and then set the cab in fine silver bezel wire.
Using seed beads in pale green and copper I created a lacy edging by beadweaving seed beads around one edge.
Many hourse were spent on grinding and polishing the rainforest jasper as well as the rest of the elements in this piece.
I was going for a very organic, rustic look and feel that with this piece I have definitely achieved it!
2 inches high
I strive to make as many of the parts for my jewelry pieces as is possible, and truly enjoy the endless possibilities of pairing my own handmade jewelry components with those that are commercially available, making my handmade jewelry items truly one of a kind.
